A photo of Ish is posted below this case summary. At his trial in February 2017, witnesses testified that the murder happened at Ish's birthday party at his grandmother's mobile home on East Agency Road, when approximately ten guests were drinking and smoking marijuana and spice. Four witnesses said they saw Ish shoot Auck three or four times, and a former cellmate of Ish said Ish told him he killed Auck because he caught Auck smoking indoors. A blue bandana Auck had been wearing was also causing a problem; Ish provided him with a white bandana to wear after a guest objected to the blue one. Ish's uncle said he saw Ish drive away with Auck's body in the back of a pickup truck after the murder. He returned about half an hour later and asked for a shovel. Ish was convicted of second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Foul play is suspected in Auck's disappearance due to the circumstances involved. At the time of his disappearance, he lived a transient lifestyle and it wasn't uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch with his family for extended time periods. His body has never been found.
