Iasia and her sons, Leeman, and parents, Joseffinn and her husband, Paul, were last seen in Wellsville, New York on March 1, 2015. Paul was awaiting trial for fraud at the time, and was at home wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle. On March 10, relatives reported the entire family missing. They had vanished from their home, along with the family dog, leaving their vehicles behind. Authorities determined Paul had cut off his ankle bracelet and manufactured a device to give the impression he was still wearing it.
Photographs and vital statistics for Paul are posted below this case summary. In June 2010, he sued the social networking site Facebook and its owner, Mark Zuckerburg, claiming he had helped Zuckerburg create the site and owned at least 50% of it. He demanded billions of dollars in compensation. Zuckerburg admitted he knew Paul and had worked with him on a now-defunct website called StreetFax in 2003, but denied that Paul had anything to do with the creation of Facebook. Paul's attorneys withdrew from the case after they determined his evidence, such as a contract and emails between himself and Zuckerburg, had been forged. Paul was charged with fraud in October 2012 and his parents and brother raised $250,000 to pay his bond so he could stay out of jail awaiting trial. He was facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted. Two months before the trial could begin, Paul, his wife and his children vanished.
Iasia's sister expressed concern for her welfare, saying she feared Paul had taken her and the boys against their will. Iasia's family stated they tried to maintain a close relationship with her, but Paul didn't like her to communicate with them and sometimes months would pass without them hearing from her. They stated Iasia had told them she was unhappy in her marriage, but didn't want to leave Paul because he was a good father and she didn't want their children to go through the trauma of a divorce.
It's possible the family has left the country; Paul has dual citizenship in Ireland and lived there for a brief period in 2011. However, his passport had been revoked and he would have had to have gotten a new one in order to travel. He is considered a fugitive, but Iasia, Joseffinn and Leeman are classified as missing persons. The Ceglia family's disappearances remain unsolved.
