Langwell's family members believe that she departed from the pharmacy with someone she trusted. They say it would be highly uncharacteristic of her not to make contact with her daughter for so long, as they were very close. Her loved ones believe Langwell's ex-boyfriend was responsible for her disappearance; the individual had reportedly threatened her and frightened her badly. Before her disappearance, Langwell told her sister to disbelieve it if she heard Langwell had committed suicide. She said she might disappear, and told her sister where to look for her remains. Foul play is suspected in Langwell's disappearance. She was employed at the Mobil Oil refinery in Beaumont in 1999.
