Laughlin was last seen in Sutherlin, Oregon on April 12, 2015. He was navigating the Main Umpqua River in a fifteen-foot canoe with a friend, Daniel Kissinger, when the canoe capsized in the Crow Rapids area and threw both men into the water. Neither of them were wearing life jackets, but life jackets were available inside the canoe. Laughlin held onto the canoe and tried to pull Kissinger on board, but Kissinger was unable to reach the boat and swam to shore instead. When he reached shore he looked back for Laughlin and couldn't find him. Searchers subsequently located the men's canoe and tackle box, as well as one life jacket, but there was no sign of Laughlin. He is presumed drowned. Douglas County Sheriff's Office 541-440-4458 brianladdsdreams.wordpress.com |
