A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Williams was last seen on the corner of 1700 South and West Temple Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. She dropped her belongings off at the residence of a family member and indicated that she would return later, but never did. She has never been heard from again.
Williams was reported missing in May 2002. For a long time authorities believed she had vanished on March 6, 2002, but later information indicated she could have disappeared as early as November 2001.
She left behind a young son. She was involved with drugs at the time of her disappearance and has a criminal history with felony convictions for drug offenses and stolen property, and it wasn't uncommon for her to drop out of sight for short time periods, but she's never been out of touch with her family for this long before.
In 2014, authorities reopened Williams's and conducted searches of several locations, including the Jordan River and another body of water. They stated some people had come recently come forward with new information and they believe Williams was murdered.
In March 2014, Ricky Lee Vincent was charged with felony obstruction of justice in connection with her . A photo of Ricky is posted with this summary. Authorities stated they didn't believe he was actually involved in Williams's disappearance, but he was a known acquaintance of their suspect. The obstruction charge against Ricky was later dropped.
In July 2021, Michael Vincent was killed in a domestic violence incident in Magna, Utah. Only after his death did it come out in the media that Michael, who was Ricky's brother, was the suspect in Williams's . Michael knew Williams because his first wife, Wendy, was one of Williams's best friends. He had a criminal history for assault, domestic violence and drug-related offenses.
Michael's daughter said she saw her father "covered in blood" on the day of Williams's disappearance, and he told her he had killed a black female. He allegedly cut off the woman's fingertips after her death, to get rid of evidence. He was never charged in Williams's death, however.
Foul play is suspected in Williams's , which remains unsolved.
