Description, clothing, jewerly and more : Possibly a light-colored shirt and denim pants.
Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : Caucasian male. Blond hair, blue eyes. Carlstrom may have a full beard. He wears prescription eyeglasses. Carlstrom has burn scars over 80 percent of his body, including on both of his arms, his upper torso and on the right side of his neck.





Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Carlstrom was in Helendale, California on August 9, 1986. He resided in Colton, California, but at the time of his disappearance he was staying with a friend at Silver Lakes near Helendale. He left his friend's home en route for Las Vegas, Nevada on the morning of August 9. There was a possible sighting of him at the Saddle West Casino in Pahrump that evening. He has never been heard from again.
On September 14, more than a month after his disappearance, Carlstrom's maroon and white 1978 Ford F-150 pickup truck was found abandoned in a remote desert area twenty miles north of Pahrump.
A photo of the vehicle is posted with this case summary. It appeared as if it had been at the location only a short time and several of Carlstrom's personal items were undisturbed inside it. There was no sign of him at the scene.
Carlstrom was a principal in a multimillion-dollar personal injury lawsuit with a major corporation at the time of his disappearance. His case remains unsolved.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2�5% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends.
