A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Cameron is missing with his brother, Kyle, and his sister, Rachel. The children were last seen together in Fulton, Mississippi on April 11, 2000.
The children's parents, Jeff Anderson and Lesley Allen, married in Wisconsin in 1985 and lived there until they divorced in 1997. Jeff then moved to Rising Sun, Indiana and Lesley moved to Mississippi with Cameron, Kyle, and Rachel as well as two of her older children, Stephanie and Greg, who were from a prior relationship. Jeff had ly adopted them. Both Stephanie and Greg have mental disabilities. Photos of Lesley are posted with this summary.
Per the divorce agreement, the children were supposed to call Jeff every Saturday, but the calls became less frequent. Jeff had the court's permission to see the children for two weeks in July and August 2000, but in April of that year, they disappeared. He was told by Lesley's roommate that she had left with a truck driver, taking her three younger children with her, and leaving Stephanie and Greg behind. Lesley and her three youngest children have ever been heard from again.
Cameron, Kyle, Rachel and Lesley may have left Mississippi. They may be traveling in a brown 1981 Chevrolet Caprice with Mississippi license plates. No school has requested the children's school records, and no doctor or hospital has requested their medical records, since their disappearances. There has also been no activity on Lesley's credit record or any evidence that she's held a job anywhere in the country in 2000.
Although the was originally thought to be a family abduction, because of the extended time period without any contact or any evidence of the Andersons' whereabouts, there is concern for their safety. The children's s remain unsolved. Indiana police are investigating.
