A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Baker was last seen in Missoula, Montana in June 2021. On June 8, while he was riding his motorcycle, it developed a problem and stopped running. He walked along Highway 200 until a passing motorist offered him a ride, and dropped him off in Potomac, Montana.
His motorcycle and helmet were later found abandoned near Culley's, a bar and convenience store in Potomac. The motorcycle had some minor damage, and the keys to it were inside the helmet.
Baker accidentally left his phone in the car he'd gotten a ride in. On June 9, he called his girlfriend to tell her this, and said he was "okay" and had gotten a ride. On June 10, he called her again from a borrowed phone and said he was on his way to the Poverello Center in Missoula, Montana.
He and his girlfriend were trying to arrange a ride home to Helena, Montana, so that Baker could attend his daughter's wedding in a few days. Then Baker realized he'd lost his wallet. The girlfriend heard him ask people in the background if they had seen it, then the call disconnected. She later went to Missoula but couldn't find him, and never heard from him again.
On June 11, Baker's wallet was found in the bushes near the University of Montana campus in Missoula. His driver's license wasn't in it, but there was an insurance card, which enabled the people who found it to contact Baker's employer.
June 12 was the day of Baker's daughter's wedding, and he didn't show up for the ceremony, which is uncharacteristic of his behavior. On June 14, he was reported missing.
The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear, but his family is concerned for his safety.
