A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Central Italy on 24 August 2016 at 03:36 CEST (01:36 GMT), close to Norcia, 75 km (47 mi) southeast of Perugia and 45 km (28 mi) north of L'Aquila, in an area near the tripoint of the Umbria, Lazio, and Marche regions.
