Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Susan's 23-year-old daughter, Amara J. Lundy, who lived with her reported her missing on July 6, 2019 stating she last saw her at their residence in the 1400 block of Division Street northwest in Olympia, Washington on June 30. She has never been heard from again. On July 2, her passport and credit card were found in West Olympia.
In August of that year, Amara was charged with her mother's murder. Although the date of Susan's disappearance was given as June 30, authorities believe that she was actually killed in late May or early June. The mother and daughter's relationship was strained because of Susan's drinking and Susan's poor relationship with Ryan Parker, Amara's boyfriend. Eventually Susan said Parker was no longer allowed to come to the home, but he would often sneak in and spend the night with Amara.
According to court documents, Amara confessed the crime to the police on August 12, saying she decided to kill Susan because she was tired of her and thought things would be better for several people if Susan was dead. Amara purchased a section of yellow cord and used it to strangle Susan to death, put her body in a yard trash bin and left it there for a week before she decided she had to dispose of it elsewhere.
She dismembered the corpse with a large knife and a small saw to dismember the corpse and wrapped the body parts in plastic. She stated she obtained a shopping cart from a local grocery store and she and Parker used the cart to carry the body parts to various dumpsters and private trash bins around Olympia, placing the body parts in the bins as she went.
Amara is awaiting trial in Susan's death, although Susan's body has never been found. Amara's boyfriend, Ryan Parker, was charged with felony rendering criminal assistance in the first degree for his role in the crime. Photos of both defendants are posted with this case summary.
Foul play is suspected in Susan's disappearance due to the circumstances involved.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 25% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. Several organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and imAge at the time of disappearance: s of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.
