Description, clothing, jewerly and more : A plaid jacket, a black smock and blue jeans.
Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : African-American female. Black hair, black eyes. Some Age at the time of disappearance: ncies spell Griffin's name "Katheryn." She goes by her middle name, Bene'. Griffin's ears are pierced. She has a large scar on her abdomen.





Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Griffin was last seen in Portsmouth, Virginia on January 7, 2012. She visited her former boyfriend at his barbershop, Perry's Cutz in the 3500 block of Victory Boulevard; she liked to style hair and often helped him there. Her boyfriend stated she borrowed his brown bicycle and rode away on it shortly before 12:00 p.m. She has never been heard from again.
Griffin's life prior to her disappearance was troubled; her infant son had died in the early 1990s, and she later was incarcerated for a drug charge and probation violations. Her mother was taking care of her other two children at the time of her disappearance; she said they kept in close touch and talked almost every day.
Her case remains unsolved and the circumstances of her disappearance are unclear.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2�5% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends.
