A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Odell was last seen in Dunnellon, Florida at 5:00 p.m. on June 30, 2010. She lived with her boyfriend, Raul Diaz Sosa, in a mobile home in the 9800 block of southwest 152nd Place. A photograph of Sosa is posted with this summary. He reported her missing on July 1. She left her personal belongings behind, including her purse and cellular phone.
For the July 4 weekend following Odell's disappearance, Sosa drove to Miami, Florida in a black 2008 Nissan pickup truck; it was purchased by Odell but registered in Sosa's name. He took Odell's dog, Moca, with him. Sosa was seen on a business surveillance tape in Wildwood, Florida late at night on July 4.
On Monday, Moca was found wandering in Miami with her leash dragging on the ground. The dog was identified by its microchip and given to the care of Odell's cousin. Sosa, meanwhile, had returned to Dunnellon, then left again to visit relatives.
Investigators were unable to contact Sosa after his Miami trip and there was no sign of him at the Dunnellon residence. His Nissan pickup was missing also, although his green Ford was parked at home.
Authorities named Sosa as a person of interest in Odell's disappearance and sought him for questioning. They also dug up a spot near their residence where there was freshly turned dirt, but they only found buried trash and old clothing. Sosa was found in south Florida after nearly two weeks, but he refused to be interviewed and hired an attorney.
Although there were never any domestic violence reports between Odell and Sosa, people who knew them described their relationship as volatile and one of Odell's friends stated Sosa became violent when he was drunk. Little information is available in Odell's , but she is considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances. Her remains unsolved.
