A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Markings and/or Distinguishing Characteristics African-American female. Black hair, brown eyes. Eggleston's ears are pierced. She has a tattoo of cherries on her left shoulder blade and a tattoo of building blocks and the name "Emery" on her upper left arm. A photo of the cherries tattoo is posted with this summary.
Details of Disappearance Eggleston was last seen in Baltimore, Maryland on May 3, 2017. She went to the bank that day and withdrew over $500 in cash, an unusual amount for her. The bank was three miles from Eggleston's apartment in the 600 block of Cherrycrest Road. Inside the bank was the last time anyone saw her. She has never been heard from again.
She was reported missing on May 7, after she didn't arrive at her baby shower. When her family checked her apartment, everything was gone except her bed. The bedroom dresser was gone, as were all of Eggleston's clothes. It looked as if she had moved out, but her family questioned her physical ability to do so, given her high-risk pregnancy; they stated they could barely even walk.
Eggleston's family didn't learn the identity of her unborn baby's father until after her disappearance; he is Andre "Michael" Robertson, a friend of the family. Although her family didn't believe Eggleston and Robertson were dating, Eggleston planned to move in with him and had told her best friend this. She said she planned to be out of her apartment by May 10.
She was close to her stepfather, aunt and grandmother; her mother had died of cancer years earlier. She had a two-year-old daughter from a prior relationship and stayed active during her pregnancy in spite of her doctor's orders that she stay in bed. She had placed a $900 deposit for her baby shower.
In February 2022, Robertson was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with Eggleston's : her murder and the murder of their unborn baby. Robertson was seeing at least one other woman and had multiple children already by the time his and Eggleston's baby was conceived, and may have not wanted to financially support another child.
Investigators think Robertson made Eggleston think they were about to move in together, but in fact the move was never intended to happen and was a ruse Robertson created to facilitate the murders. Authorities stated cellular phone data, financial records, social media messages and photographic evidence formed part of the against him.
A photo of Robertson is posted with this summary.Eggleston's body has never been located. It may have been taken to the Baltimore City landfill. Foul play is suspected in Eggleston's due to the circumstances involved.
