Missing Person Photos

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

Resources for Missing Persons

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Markings and/or Distinguishing Characteristics African-American male. Black hair, brown eyes. Allen has a lump on his left shoulder and a scar on his forehead. He is bowlegged. One of his front teeth was chipped or cracked at the time of his 1985 disappearance. Allen's nicknames are Squeak and Squeaky.
Details of Disappearance Allen was last seen in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1985. Every day his mother would call home from work at 7:30 a.m. to make sure he and his sister were awake and getting ready for classes at Bartram High School. When she called that morning, no one answered. She called again at 3:30 p.m., an hour after school was out, and still no one answered.
Allen's mother was working two jobs at the time and didn't arrive home until 11:30 p.m. She discovered Allen's sister had come home at 11:00 p.m., but she was locked out because only Allen had the house keys, so she had gone to her grandmother's home. He has never been heard from again.
There are reports that Allen's school closed early on the day of his disappearance. His mother doesn't believe he went to school at all that day, but police records indicate he was at school at some point during the day, along with a friend. The two of them rode the subway around Philadelphia all day, then came back to their own neighborhood by bus.
Allen's friend stated he last saw him exiting the bus at Woodland Avenue, and Allen told him he was going to see a female friend. This is the last confirmed sighting of him.
Authorities don't believe Allen ran away from home. He left all his clothes behind, as well as $50 his mother gave him as a birthday present, and he had not spoken of any plans to leave home. His mother stated his hobbies in 1985 included rap music and basketball, and she described him as a picky eater.
Authorities have attempted to re-interview Allen's friends in recent years, but owing to the passage of time many of them cannot be located.
Allen's may be linked to the disappearance of Christine Green, who was also a student at Bartram High School and also disappeared in 1985. Neither has been solved.
