A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Ross was last seen on January 28, 2006 in the 1400 block of Falcon Drive in Prospect, Kentucky. He left work and was last seen when purchased $8 worth of gasoline afterwards. He was last heard from when he spoke to a friend on the phone at 4:47 p.m. He was reported missing the next day.
Three days after his disappearance, his white 2003 or 2005 Chevrolet 2500 extended cab pickup truck, which has the words "Cardinal Professional Tree Service" written on it, was found in the 600 block of south 35th Street. It had run out of gas. Ross's keys were on the front seat, the doors were open and there no indications of a struggle, and a pair of Reebok sneakers, possibly Ross's, were in the bed of the truck.
Ross owned his own successful business, Cardinal Professional Tree Service, in 2006. His family has since sold most of his tree-cutting equipment and vehicles. He is described as a very friendly individual who was well-known and well-liked in his neighborhood. He had several business appointments scheduled for after his disappearance, and missed them all without making any arrangements to cover for his absence.
It's uncharacteristic of Ross to leave without warning or neglect his business obligations, and he had no medical conditions which would cause him to wander away. His loved ones stated he was happy with his life at the time he went missing and had no personal problems. He is childless, has never been married, and lived alone with his pet dogs, but he did have a girlfriend.
Ross is a graduate of Waggener High School, and started his tree business when he was in his early twenties. Although there is no hard evidence of foul play in his , his disappearance is considered suspicious. His remains unsolved.
