Missing Person Photos

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Christine was reportedly last seen driving a 1973 Honda 500 motorcycle with Oregon license plates in Eugene, Oregon on August 24, 1986. She and her husband, Philip Stephen Nelson, had traveled to Carson City, Nevada the previous day and picked up two Studebaker cars.
Philip says they went home together afterwards, and Christine drove off on her motorcycle early the next morning and never returned. She has never been heard from again.
Authorities have no evidence besides Philip's statements that Christine ever made it home from Carson City. She is known to have arrived in Nevada safely, but no one besides Philip reported seeing her back home in Oregon.
Christine's motorcycle was found shortly after her disappearance, parked at a rock quarry on Sears Road in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The location is about 15 miles from the Nelson home and not far from the highway.
Philip stated he believed his wife had run away with another man, and some of Christine's relatives concurred, but other members of her family thought she had disappeared under suspicious circumstances and may have been murdered.
Christine's coworkers stated she often had bruises on her body and had told them Philip abused her, but he was never charged in connection with any domestic violence incidents.
Their marriage was troubled and the couple separated a few months prior to Christine's disappearance. She moved back in with her parents, but Philip begged to her to reconcile and she began spending weekends with him at their house. By the time of her disappearance, Christine was still undecided as to whether to end her marriage.
Philip was initially cooperative with the police investigating his wife's , but he eventually refused to take a polygraph, hired an attorney and stopped talking to authorities.
After Christine's disappearance, her mother had her declared ly dead and sued Philip, claiming he had killed his wife, hidden her body and then moved to Alaska to avoid being prosecuted. Oregon law states that a murderer cannot benefit from their victim's estate.
The lawsuit was dropped after Philip agreed to withdraw all claims to Christine's estate, including her retirement and insurance benefits. He has never been charged in her disappearance.
Christine was employed as a secretary for the University of Oregon at the time of her disappearance. She is described as an extremely outgoing and athletic person; she enjoys swimming, wind-surfing, baseball and horseback riding. Most of her relatives are now deceased.
Foul play is suspected in her , which remains unsolved.
