Missing Person Photos

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Markings and/or Distinguishing Characteristics African-American female. Black hair, brown eyes. Taquila's ears are pierced. Her nickname is Weda.
Details of Disappearance Taquila clocked out of work at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was a nurse, on May 21, 2019. She never went to work again. She didn't show up at her nephew's graduation in Mississippi, and didn't contact her young son on his birthday. Her son lives with his biological father.
Her husband, Carl Hayes, stated he last saw her on or around June 8, when they decided to separate and she left the house with a friend, leaving all her belongings behind, and never returned. After Taquila's supervisor told Carl she was calling the police to do a welfare check on Taquila due to her absences from work, Carl told the supervisor that Taquila had quit.
Carl later admitted that he used Taquila's cellular phone after her disappearance and impersonated her in communications with others. He also threw away all her belongings and withdrew money from her bank account. Her family did not file a missing persons report until August 9, in part because Carl had misled them about Taquila's disappearance.
Carl and Taquila's marriage had been sometimes troubled. In 2012, she filed a domestic violence report against him. She stated they were separated at the time and when they met to talk about their son, they got into an argument and he slapped and choked her. A photo of Carl is posted with this summary. When police searched the Hayes residence months after Taquila's disappearance, they noted there was new carpet in the living room, dining room and master bedroom, as well as new paint. They checked Taquila's car and it had new carpet as well.
In February 2020, Carl was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and tampering and fabricating evidence in Taquila's . He is in jail awaiting trial.
Taquila's body has never been located, but foul play is suspected due to the circumstances involved.
