Missing Person Photos

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are unknown. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2 to 5 percent of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. A number of organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and images of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.

According to current statistics, 4,000 people in the United States go missing every day. Sometimes a child suddenly vanishes from the bus stop or the local park or even from their own yard or bedroom. Or a teenager doesnt return home after a walk to the neighborhood grocery store or a bike ride or a party with friends. Other times, an adult is mysteriously absent from their job or neighbors havent seen them for several days, and family and friends havent heard from them either.

Details of Disappearance Zaden and his mother, Nichelle La'Rod McKnight, disappeared together from Dayton, Ohio on March 25, 2014. Nichelle was last seen leaving her home in the 600 block of Homewood Avenue at 11:00 p.m. She was in the company of her ex-boyfriend, Antwan Anderson, at the time of her disappearance.
Nichelle's mother reported her and Zaden missing after she found out Nichelle hadn't shown up for work at either of her two jobs for several days. Photos of Nichelle and Anderson are posted with this summary.
Police wanted to question Anderson about the pair's disappearance. He had active warrants for his arrest. Authorities tried to pull him over at a traffic stop, but he fled from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Two officers chased him and he pulled out a gun. There was a shoot-out between Anderson and the police which ended in Anderson fatally shooting himself in the head.
On April 11, an anonymous caller who said he was a friend of Anderson directed police to search behind the Riverview Park Apartments, in the 4300 block of Riverside Drive, near the Stillwater River. Authorities did go there and found Nichelle's body; she had been shot twice in the head. There was no sign of Zaden, however.
On April 30, Tonisha Harris was arrested and charged with one count of failure to report a crime, one count of evidence tampering and two counts of gross abuse of a corpse in Nichelle's murder and Zaden's presumed death. A photo of Harris is posted with this summary.
Authorities found evidence, including blood, at her home in the 20 block of Birchwood Avenue which indicated both Nichelle and Zaden had died there. They also located the shoes Nichelle was last seen wearing, her bank cards, her driver's license and Social Security cards for her and Zaden.
Harris had also dated Anderson, and she used Nichelle's bank cards without her permission before she went missing, spending nearly $3,000. (She was ultimately sentenced to ten months in prison for this.) Authorities believe Harris used the cards at Anderson's instruction. Nichelle had found out about the thefts and disappeared shortly after she confronted Anderson about it.
In October 2015, Harris pleaded guilty to evidence tampering and failure to report a crime, and no contest to gross abuse of a corpse. She was sentenced to three years in prison, one year short of the maximum sentence. Authorities believe she cleaned blood out of her basement and the trunk of her car. They think she was "intimately involved" in Nichelle and Zaden's deaths, but she denies this, and she hasn't been charged in connection with the actual homicides.
Investigators have made several searches for Zaden's body; they said they had no hope that he was still alive. He has never been located, but foul play is suspected in his due to the circumstances involved.
