Two aircraft with similar appearance left Manchester-Boston Regional Airport after one had an engine repaired after a bird strike
LONDONDERRY, NH — On Sept. 22, Vice President Pence visited New Hampshire. When leaving on Air Force II, the aircraft was involved in a bird-strike caught on video. The plane immediately returned to the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. A crew was flown in on Wednesday to assess the damage to the VC-32A aircraft which was designated as Air Force II while the Vice President was on the plane. The Vice President, a short time after, was transferred to a cargo plane and safely brought back to Washington, D.C.
On Thursday, a crew flew in with a C-40B aircraft which had a very similar appearance to the damaged aircraft. At one point, both planes were parked on the tarmac outside of Signature Air.
The C-40B took off using a call sign of "Venus 30" from the airport shortly after 1 p.m. returning to Andrews Air Force Base.
The VC-32A aircraft, which was damaged, was able to safely take off at 1:45 p.m., it utilized the call sign "Venus 91" also returning to Andrews's Air Force Base. The aircraft is only designated as "Air Force II" when the Vice President is on board the aircraft.
