Shane Carey and Family Personal Emergency Fundraiser (...) Austin Police continue searching for 33-year-old Heidi Broussard and her 3-week-old daughter Margot Carey. The two were last seen Thursday morning at around 7:30 a.m. dropping Heidi's son off at Cowen Elementary School in south Austin. APD says Heidi is believed to have driven back to her apartment complex off West William Cannon Drive. CBS Austin spoke with Heidi's fiancé and Margot's father, Shane Carey on Friday. Carey says he spoke with Heidi on the phone at around 8 a.m. Thursday morning while he was at work. He says she had just dropped off their son and bought books from the school book fair. However, Carey says when he got home from work at around 2 p.m., Heidi and Margot weren't there. "Her car, everything's at the house, the baby stuff, everything... nothings gone except for her and the baby," says Carey. Eventually, the couple's son's school called asking for someone to pick up the boy. Carey tells us he immediately went to pick him up, returned home yet again to an empty apartment, and decided to call police. "Pay attention to your surroundings if you see anything weird just call it in don't be scared to call it in," says Carey. According to Austin Police, detectives are actively working the case and haven't been able to step away to give on-camera interviews. Volunteer agency, Texas Search and Rescue says they have not been called to assist in the search. "Quite often when they get a narrowed search area or someplace where they can apply those assets that's when we'll be called in," says TEXSAR Vice President Brandon Goering. Goering tells us if law enforcement or another authorized entity like the Governor's Office requests assistance, they would deploy immediately.
