Maintenance workers at the hotel discovered the body when investigating guest complaints of problems with the water supply.

Her disappearance had been widely reported; interest had increased five days prior to her body's discovery when the Los Angeles Police Department released video of the last time she was known to have been seen, on the day of her disappearance, by an elevator security camera. In the footage, Lam is seen exiting and re-entering the elevator, talking and gesturing in the hallway outside, and sometimes seeming to hide within the elevator, which itself appears to be malfunctioning. The video went viral on the Internet, with many viewers reporting that they found it unsettling. Explanations ranged from claims of paranormal involvement to bipolar disorder from which Lam suffered; it has also been argued that the video was altered prior to release.[3]

The circumstances of Lam's death, once she was found, also raised questions, especially in light of the Cecil's history in relation to other notable deaths and murders. Her body was naked[4] with most of her clothes and personal effects floating in the water near her.[4] It took the Los Angeles County Coroner's office four months, after repeated delays, to release the autopsy report, which reports no evidence of physical trauma and states that the manner of death was accidental.[5] Guests at the Cecil, now re-branded as Stay on Main, sued the hotel over the incident, and Lam's parents filed a separate suit later that year; the latter was dismissed in 2015. Some of the early Internet interest noted what were considered to be unusual similarities between Lam's death and the 2005 horror film Dark Water.[2] The case has since been referenced in international popular culture

Asha is not a normal girl, she seems to have the 'mental pattern' of an adult and IMO there is no way someone could trick her into doing something she did not want to happen anyway. Good news, this where she is now, and I think she wants to be found. Also, during my lucid episode, the way I found her was with a dreamcatcher that she had made...I know it sounds wrong to say, but I don't think she's unhappy at all :(

case details:

Search operations for a Seattle hiker missing since Aug. 1 have been suspended, officials said Thursday, but family and friends say they're not giving up.

Samantha Sayers, 28, went missing during a solo hike at Vesper Peak in the North Cascades in Washington state.

"We have exhausted all leads and tips," Sgt. John Adams of the Snohomish County sheriff's Search and Rescue unit told Seattle's Q13 FOX. “We’ve interviewed all witnesses who have come forward. We have checked and double-checked the possible routes we believe Sam could have taken."

Sayers' boyfriend, Kevin Dares, told Fox News that Vesper Peak was her favorite mountain. He wrote in a post in the "#findsamsayers" Facebook group that "Sam isn't gone and we haven't forgotten her."

Dares previously told Fox News that Sayers had lunch with an unidentified male prior to her disappearance. Dares said the man reached out to authorities after he learned of Sayer's disappearance.

The sheriff's office also told Q13 FOX that another hiker reported seeing Sayers at lunchtime the day of her hike at the 6,220-foot summit, and that "she had walked to the south, rather than east back to her car."

31 views todayiam McAtasney is likely to stand trial in Sarah Stern's murder in September after his new defense attorney said he doesn't plan to appeal a ruling allowing a jury to view a recording of his client confessing to the crime.

PREVIOUSLY: Judge rules jury can watch Liam McAtasney's videotaped confession

Superior Court Judge Richard W. English ruled late Friday that the videotaped confession can be shown to a jury. The videotape reportedly shows McAtasney telling an acquaintance that he choked the 19-year-old Stern, stole a safe from her Neptune City home and disposed of her body off of the Belmar Bridge in 2016.

McAtasney's defense attorney, Carlos Diaz Cobo, who only recently got into the case, said he won't appeal the judge's ruling.

English, at a conference Monday at which he reiterated Friday's ruling, scheduled the next conference in the case for June 18 and announced a potential trial date for the second week of September.

Meanwhile, the victim's father, Michael Stern, who attended the conference, said a small group of family and friends held a memorial atop the Belmar bridge on Saturday to commemorate what would have been Sarah's 21st birthday.

"We just wanted to do something for Sarah's birthday,'' he said after Monday's court proceeding. "We press onward.''

Diaz-Cobo said he plans to review the voluminous evidence in the criminal case with his client and, after that, "we'll make a decision on how we want to go forward.'' He said he expects a trial date of Sept. 10.

Authorities allege that McAtasney, 20, of Neptune City, strangled his former high school classmate in her home on Dec. 2, 2016, stole about $10,000 from her and, with the help of his roommate, Preston Taylor, drove her body to the Belmar bridge and dumped it in the Shark River, leaving her car atop the span to make it look like she committed suicide.

Stern's body has never been recovered.

Stern's disappearance remained a mystery until Anthony Curry, an acquaintance of McAtasney, came forward to authorities in January 2017 and told them of a conversation McAtasney had with him the previous Thanksgiving. Curry told authorities that McAtasney, in the Thanksgiving conversation, outlined a plan to kill Stern, steal some money she recently came into and throw her body off the bridge.

On Jan, 31, 2017, Curry met McAtasney in Bradley Beach and recorded a conversation in which McAtasney reportedly confessed to doing just that.

McAtasney's previous attorneys, Charles Moriarty and Kevin Moriarty, filed motions last year seeking to exclude McAtasney's confession, as well as phone calls and Snapchat and text messages between Curry and McAtasney.

Ruling that the recording and messages could be presented to a jury, English said that McAtasney appeared boastful as he told Curry the story of what happened to Stern.

McAtasney and Taylor, who was Stern's date for the junior prom, were arrested and charged with Stern's murder the day after Curry recorded the confession.

Taylor, 20, of Neptune, has admitted helping McAtasney dispose of the body and has agreed to testify against his former roommate.

English said the next court date in June will be the deadline for McAtasney to take a plea bargain. If he doesn't, a September trial date is likely to be set, the judge said.

McAtasney faces life in prison without the possibility of release on parole if he is convicted of Stern's murder.

American Online, there is a computer with a modem, this is an old modem that actually flashes text input to the chip, it's recoverable information that LE missed. I also think LE has information about the child's biological father that's not accurate.

Something is not right here and I'm very confused...it's like trying to solve a puzzle that you've solved before, but now some of the puzzle pieces are missing but you don't want to admit can't do it anymore. Too much information was given to LE when Zachary went missing...not sure, but in most missing person cases, there is very little anyone can give unless there involved.

I believe Zachary was taken by a friend of his biological father, he did this for some sort of drug debt and drug addiction (meth) could have played into why he was so boldly.

Good news, I do not think Zachary was harmed and could be located if Zachary actually saw something that proves someone is really looking for him. Just because I know and a million other people know he's loved..it doesn't mean Zac knows it...the media has kept the story. And sometimes, if a child is sexually abused, they're too embarrassed to ask for help or even look up their own name on the internet :(

Anyway, this is him, he works at this auto garage and lives in this trailer outside Miami Flordia.

Brian

FYI, I'm not too far from where I think Zachary lives now, so I will be personally driving there in a few weeks.

Police searching a missing holiday camp worker were today scouring a creek close to the spot where she was last seen alive.

Coastguards were concentrating their efforts on the water near where zoology graduate Rosie Johnson was last sighted three days ago.

The police inspector leading the investigation today said he believes the 22-year-old was 'not the victim of crime' - but admitted he was 'seriously concerned' for her safety.

Inspector Andy MacDonald refused to be drawn on whether he believed Miss Johnson - from Glasgow, Scotland - was still alive following her disappearance on Sunday evening.

Miss Johnson, a field studies instructor at 50-acre Little Canada in Wootton on the Isle of Wight, was seen outside the site next to a neighbouring creek at 10.15pm on Sunday.

Staff at the site said police were called on Monday morning when Miss Johnson - niece of Scottish Labour MSP Daniel Johnson - did not check into work.

The body of Elisa Lam, also known by her Cantonese name, Lam Ho Yi (藍可兒; April 30, 1991[1] – February 2013), a Canadian student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, was recovered from a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on February 19, 2013.[2] She had been reported missing at the beginning of the month. Some of the early Internet interest noted what were considered to be unusual similarities between Lam's death and the 2005 horror film Dark Water.[2] The case has since been referenced in international popular culture.

19 views todayiam McAtasney is likely to stand trial in Sarah Stern's murder in September after his new defense attorney said he doesn't plan to appeal a ruling allowing a jury to view a recording of his client confessing to the crime.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Jayme and several law enforcement agencies have joined the search.
Motive in parents' death is unclear
Deputies are also trying to solve the killings of Jayme's parents, James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, in the small city of Barron.
During a 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, the dispatcher heard a disturbance in the background. But no one spoke directly to the dispatcher, Fitzgerald said.
When deputies arrived to the homeless than four minutes later, Fitzgerald said, no one was in sight and no vehicles were in the immediate area.
Closs' parents were shot and their deaths have been ruled homicides, Fitzgerald said Wednesday. No gun was found at the scene, he said.
Not clear how long James and Denise Closs had been dead when their bodies were discovered Monday.
It's not clear how long James and Denise Closs had been dead when their bodies were discovered Monday.
On HLN's "Crime & Justice" Wednesday night, Fitzgerald told host Ashleigh Banfield that deputies had recovered the cell phone from which the 911 call was made.
Fitzgerald said additional agencies, including the FBI, are involved. "They are the experts in breaking down 911 tapes, looking at our phones, and taking care of all evidence in that manner," he said.
Authorities said they have determined whose cell phone the call came from, but declined to identify the owner.
Investigators also believe Jayme was at home during the shooting based on details from the 911 call and evidence from the home.
"Is it a random attack or a targeted attack? I don't know that answer," Fitzgerald told reporters. "That's why those leads are so important."
Joan Smrekar, who lives next door to the Closs home, told Banfield she heard two shots a couple of seconds apart just after 12:30 a.m. Monday.
"It was just, 'bang' and 'bang,'" Smrekar said.
Relatives wait in agony
Seara Closs said she wishes she were the one endangered, not her cousin Jayme. Seara wrote an open letter to Jayme on Facebook.
"I'm going thru our family pictures, worrying sick about you :( wishing we could trade places just to get you home and out of harms way," Seara Closs posted.
In her post, Seara reminded her cousin that her family -- including her slain parents -- love her dearly.
"Grandpa Jim (James) Closs, your Momma Bear, Denise Closs and your very own night [in] shinning armor, your Daddyo Jim JR Closs ... love all of you!" Seara Closs wrote.
Authorities said they don't believe Jayme Closs ran away.

Barron Area School District administrator Diane Tremblay said Jayme, a member of her school's cross-country team, is a "sweet girl who is a loyal friend and loves to dance."
During a recent school assignment, Jayme was asked what she would do with $1 million, Tremblay said. Jayme wrote that she would "feed the hungry and give the rest to the poor."

Both James and Denise Closs were long-time employees of the Jennie-O Turkey Store in Barron, Jennie-O's parent company Hormel said.
"Our thoughts are with the Closs family and the entire Barron community," said a statement from Jennie-O Turkey Store officials.
"This is a difficult time for our entire team and we are mourning this loss and are still processing this terrible tragedy. We are also hopeful for the safe return of their daughter, Jayme, and are keeping her and the Closs family in our thoughts."
Jayme Closs is 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds and has green eyes and blond or strawberry blond hair, the sheriff's department said. Anyone with information can call the tip line at 1-855-744-3879.

14 views todayThe body of Elisa Lam, also known by her Cantonese name, Lam Ho Yi (藍可兒; April 30, 1991[1] – February 2013), a Canadian student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, was recovered from a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on February 19, 2013.[2] She had been reported missing at the beginning of the month.

Some of the early Internet interest noted what were considered to be unusual similarities between Lam's death and the 2005 horror film Dark Water.[2] The case has since been referenced in international popular culture

case details:

The mother of a missing Colorado woman says her daughter has a close and loving bond with her fiancé despite him refusing to speak publicly about her disappearance.

Kelsey Berreth, 29, has not been seen since Thanksgiving Day when she was recorded on surveillance cameras in a grocery store in Woodland Park, Colorado with her baby daughter.

Her fiance, Patrick Frazee, told police Berreth dropped their baby off afterwards at his home but he has not seen her since. He hasn't heard from her since she sent a text on November 25.

The couple have never lived together despite being engaged and sharing a daughter.

Frazee was not present at a police press conference on Monday and he has been scrutinized on social media for refusing to speak publicly about his missing fiancé.

Despite the scrutiny, Berreth's mother Cheryl told NBC's Today on Thursday that the couple has a strong bond.

'The relationship has been good. They're loving,' she said.

It is the only public comment the family have made about Berreth's relationship with her fiance.

12 views todayThe body of Elisa Lam, also known by her Cantonese name, Lam Ho Yi (藍可兒; April 30, 1991[1] – February 2013), a Canadian student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, was recovered from a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on February 19, 2013.[2] She had been reported missing at the beginning of the month.

Audrey Moran, 26, and her boyfriend Jonathan Roynoso, 28, disappeared from California on the evening of May 10th, 2017. When Audrey left her sister’s home that evening, she told her sister that she was leaving Coachella and travelling to the town of Brawley, roughly an hour-and-fifteen-minute drive away, to pick up Jonathan and take him to his home in Palm Desert. After several calls went unanswered, Audrey’s family reported her missing early on May 11th. On May 12th, the police located Audrey’s vehicle by using OnStar to determine its location. The 2010 GMC Terrain SUV was found abandoned on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 on the Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont. The location of the vehicle was approximately an hour drive northwest of Coachella and Palm Desert. There was no sign of the couple, and by all reports the SUV had nearly a full tank of gas and seemed to be in perfect working condition. Forensic crime scene investigators did not discover any obvious signs of foul play in the vehicle or at the scene. Audrey and Jonathan remain missing.

Died: December 2016, New Jersey
Parents: Carla Stern, Michael Stern

The attorney for the man accused of killing of Sarah Stern, his 19-year-old childhood friend, and dumping her body off a Jersey Shore bridge in 2016 plans to challenge the findings of the state's expert on water tides.

Neither the prosecutor nor murder suspect Liam McAtasney's defense attorney would say what the expert has said or plans to say during his testimony. However, Stern's body was never recovered, despite a massive search effort on land and in the Shark River inlet in the days following her disappearance.

Monmouth Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said during a press conference early last year that Stern's body may have been carried out to sea by swift tides in the Shark River inlet.

McAtasney, 20, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Stern. He's accused of strangling her, then throwing her body off the Route 35 bridge in early December 2016 to make it appear as if she had committed suicide, authorities have said.

McAtasney's attorney, Carlos Diaz-Cobo of New Brunswick, said in a brief status conference in court on Monday that he plans to file a motion to dispute the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office's witness on water tides, Hugh Roarty, a research project manager for the Rutgers University Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences.

Diaz-Cobo's motion is due on Friday. He declined to comment after the court hearing as to what he plans to argue.

Authorities searched Monday for a 13-year-old girl they believe is in danger after her parents were found dead in their western Wisconsin home.

Deputies went to the home in Barron after dispatchers received a 911 call from an unknown person at around 1 a.m. Monday, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said. He said they found the bodies of Jayme Closs' parents, who were later identified by the sheriff's department as 56-year-old James Closs and his 46-year-old wife, Denise Closs. Fitzgerald also said there had been gunshots, but he stopped short of saying that's how the couple died.

"At the end of the day, I want a 13-year-old here safe and sound. That's our goal. That's our only goal right now," Fitzgerald said at a news briefing.

Investigators don't have any leads or suspects, but they have enlisted the help of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI, which has agents who specialize in missing children cases, the sheriff said. He said Jayme is not considered a suspect in her parents' deaths.

Deputies searched the area around the family's home with drones and infrared equipment, but they didn't find any clues as to her whereabouts. Fitzgerald said investigators are frustrated they haven't developed any leads and asked for the public's help with any information about what could have happened to the girl.

Officers also were at Jayme's middle school talking with her friends and acquaintances, hoping to develop some leads, officials said.

Dream_number_10974_21_August_2018_4_psychic_prediction__Mollie_Cecilia_Tibbetts_missing~0.jpg
11 views todayMollie Cecilia Tibbetts, a University of Iowa student, disappeared on July 18, 2018, while jogging near her home in Brooklyn, Iowa. After a month-long search, police identified 24-year-old
Cristhian Bahena Rivera as a suspect using surveillance camera footage that showed his car following her on her jog. He led police to her body in a Poweshiek County cornfield on August 21
and was charged with first-degree murder.

Rivera's immigration status became a politicized issue after police, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement indicated he had been in the
country illegally. The case became a political talking point for and against the immigration policies of the Trump administration. Tibbetts' family denounced the efforts to exploit and
politicize Tibbetts' death.

Mollie Cecilia Tibbetts was born on May 8, 1998, in San Francisco, California, to Rob Tibbetts and Laura Calderwood. When she was in the second grade, her parents divorced, and she moved to
Iowa with her mother and two siblings.1 Her father kept in touch with the family through telephone, and he last saw her at his wedding in 2017.23 At the time of her disappearance, she was a
resident of Brooklyn, Iowa, a small town about 70 miles (110 km) east of Des Moines, and a psychology major at the University of Iowa.4 She was preparing for her sophomore year in college
when she disappeared.1

On July 18, 2018, Tibbetts, a former cross country runner, left the home of her boyfriend's brother in Brooklyn for an evening jog.14 She was last seen at approximately 7:30 p.m. CDT and
was reported missing by her family when she did not show up for work the following day.5 According to police, her last confirmed communication was with her boyfriend of three years, shortly
before leaving for her jog.1 Her boyfriend was out of town for work in Dubuque, Iowa, over 130 miles (210 km) away.6 He told investigators he received a Snapchat message from her later in
the evening that appeared to show her indoors.4

Over the next several weeks, police in multiple states investigated hundreds of leads in the case,7 including an unconfirmed sighting at a truck stop in Kearney, Missouri5 (later confirmed
to have been false),7 but were not able to locate Tibbetts. They received over 2,300 tips8 and conducted over 500 interviews during the course of the investigation.9 As she was known to
always wear her Fitbit activity tracker, police attempted to use its data to help find her.10

About a week prior to her body being found, police said that the search had been refocused to several specific areas in and around Brooklyn, including her boyfriend's home, a truck stop, a
car wash, and two area farms.11 Prior to the discovery of Tibbetts' body, monetary rewards for information leading to closure in the case had reached over $366,000, surpassing the previous
record reward amount raised by the local Crime Stoppers branch.12 As the money was to be used on the condition of her return alive, the money will be returned to those who requested it, or
dispersed to the general Crime Stoppers fund and/or to the Tibbetts family.13

On August 21, police in Iowa announced that a body had been found in Poweshiek County,14 where Tibbetts' hometown of Brooklyn is located; the body was identified as Tibbetts' in an autopsy
that was conducted two days later by the Iowa State Medical Examiner.15 They had been led to the site by 24-year-old suspect Cristhian Bahena Rivera.1416

On August 23, the Iowa State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and recorded the cause of death as "multiple sharp force injuries" and the manner as homicide.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera, age 24, lived and worked in the rural Poweshiek County area where Tibbetts vanished.1718 Originally from El Guayabillo, Guerrero, Mexico,19 he arrived in the United
States at age 17 and had lived in the area for a few years.20 He had worked at another farm before coming to Yarrabee Farms near Brooklyn, Iowa, in August 2014.20

Rivera became a target of investigators after they obtained footage from a nearby surveillance camera, showing a Chevrolet Malibu driving back and forth in the area where Tibbetts was
jogging. After linking the car to him, police approached him without incident.2122 They said he confessed to kidnapping and killing her and dumping her body. According to an affidavit filed
by the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office, he led them to the body in a secluded location within a cornfield.23

A spokesman for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said its systems did not indicate Rivera "has any lawful immigration status." . Later, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
confirmed this determination, by saying "law enforcement remains absolutely confident that we’ve correctly identified the suspect as an illegal alien from Mexico."2526 Rivera worked at
Yarrabee Farms, owned by the family of a prominent Iowa Republican leader, Craig Lang. As part of his employment, the Lang family, including Nicole Schlinger, a top Republican fundraiser,
allowed Rivera to live rent-free on their land. Yarabee Farms initially claimed that they had vetted Rivera's immigration status through the federal E-Verify program. After E-Verify
indicated that Yarabee Farms was not subscribed to its program, Yarabee Farms said it used the Social Security Administration system and clarified that Rivera had given them false
information.2724282930 In a motion for a gag order on August 22, Rivera's lawyer said Rivera was in the United States legally.24

On August 22, Rivera was charged with first-degree murder.19 The judge raised his bond from $1 million to $5 million when the prosecutor noted he is a flight risk.31

On August 24, Rivera changed his legal counsel and rescinded several motions filed by his original attorney. He is now represented by Chad Frese and Jennifer Frese, a married couple who
normally work for different law firms, but are privately retained by Rivera's relatives.32

In August 2018 after her body was recovered, the Tibbetts family released a statement in which they asked for time to process the information and to share their grief in private.33 In
addition, Tibbetts' father responding to Donald Trump, Jr., criticized Trump Jr., political operators, commentators, and others as "heartless" and "despicable" in the use of her death in
politics, and particularly decried the use against immigrants.34 During the politicization, Tibbetts' friend, aunt and distant second cousin spoke out against the sentiment.35 Her parents
asked that her death not be used for political ends, a request which was ignored by Karin Housley and President Trump.3637 The cousin asked conservative commentator Candace Owens on Twitter
to "stop being a fucking snake and using my cousins death as political propaganda", after Owens had invoked it to complain about left-wing media.3738

At her funeral Tibbetts' father echoed the sentiment, stating, "But we need to turn toward life – Mollie's life – because Mollie's nobody's victim. Mollie's my hero."39 He continued his
support for the Hispanic community, and rebuked the negative comments made by others by stating; "The Hispanic community are Iowans. They have the same values as Iowans. As far as I'm
concerned, they're Iowans with better food."40 He denounced those who exploited her death to promote a "racist" agenda.41

Vice President Mike Pence called attention to the case at the beginning of a speech in Des Moines on August 15, telling a crowd of President Donald Trump's supporters that the government
would continue to provide "any and all federal support" to the case. Pence later met with the Tibbetts family aboard Air Force Two.12

Trump made a video statement on August 22 saying: “A person came in from Mexico illegally and killed her. We need the wall, we need our immigration laws changed, we need our border laws
changed."42

Tibbetts' death was mocked by some Twitter users in response to her tweet "I hate white people", made after the United States Senate special election in Alabama in 2017.43 Others heckled a
reply she made about Trump marrying an immigrant.44

The case became a political talking point for and against the immigration policies of the Trump administration.45 Conservatives emphasized that the suspect had entered the country
illegally, while liberals accused the conservative response of fearmongering, given studies finding immigrants less likely to commit crimes.46 The immigration status of the suspect has also
raised debates about the differential treatment of undocumented farm workers to other undocumented immigrants in the United States.47

Tibbetts' younger brother and his football team memorialized her by printing her initials on the team jerseys.48 Some runners used the hashtag #MilesforMollie to highlight harassment and
safety issues women who run face, since she had been attacked while running.4950 Her friends started an online group that gained attention on social media called "The Mollie Movement",
which encourages people to be kind to each other in her honor.51 During her funeral, her family called for mourners to remember her passion for life and desire to help others, by
"celebrating something wonderful", such as her father highlighting a couple who had been married the day previous.39
