Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Crockett was last seen at Rankin’s Grocery on U. S. 521 in Taylor's Grove, South Carolina sometime after 7:00 p.m. on August 12, 1977. Witnesses reported he was talking to someone inside a vehicle parked in the median of the highway. He has never been heard from again.
Crockett's loved ones can't think of any reason why he would have wanted to walk out of his life; they believe he was murdered. He was declared legally dead seven years after his disappearance, but no one has ever been charged in his case and he has never been located.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons.
